Indonesian Eagle Airlines (English: Garuda Indonesia, Indonesian: PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, referred to as "Indonesian Airlines" or "Garuda", "Indonesia Eagle Airlines", sometimes transliterated as "Jaluda Indonesia Airlines" ) is a national airline wholly owned by the Indonesian government. The name "Galuda" in the Indonesian name of the company is from the Hindu god Kalugaro, which is mentioned in the myths of South Asia, Indonesia and many Southeast Asian countries. It is the image of this bird.
Garuda Indonesia is awarded the “Best Regional Airline in the World”, “Best Economy Class in the World”, “Best Unit in the World” and many other awards from London-based Skytrax and other institutions.
In 2014, Garuda Indonesia successfully entered the Skytrax five-star airline and became a new member of the five-star airline.
